PORTLAND -- A group of teens and community members decided to battle violence with art.

In North Portland on the corner of North Killingsworth and Borthwick, a huge mural was being painted in an area that has long been a violent site.

About 50 kids took part in painting the mural Friday and Saturday. The goal: To put something positive in a place that has a history of conflict.

"We hope that we able to look at this and be like we moving beyond our past," said Antwoine Thomas, who designed the mural.
