PORTLAND -- The Rose City made the 2014 list of the 13 Best Cities for Swingin' Seniors, according to real estate site

Portland was chosen partly because of its high rate of volunteerism among retirees and its relatively low crime rate.

According to the survey, Portland is a pretty, funky place to spend the best years of your life, as evidenced by the high number of gray ponytails spotted on the city's street.

The site also added Portland because the lack of a sales tax makes it easy to set a budget and stick to it.

Pittsfield, Mass. was No. 1 on the list, due to its high population of unattached seniors.
