PORTLAND A child was struck by a car late Thursday morning in a Northeast Portland crosswalk.

A witness told KGW the boy was riding a bicycle alongside his babysitter in a crosswalk and the driver of the car did not appear to be slowing down.

The boy was struck by the car near the intersection of Northeast Fremont and 50th Avenue, according to police. He suffered a broken leg but will survive.

The driver was cited by police for failure to stop at a crosswalk.
