PORTLAND -- A man was arrested in Northeast Portland Thursday after he reportedly attempted to assault a woman and then shoot her car when she tried to escape.

According to police, Dechavian Parks, 21, attempted to assault an 18-year-old woman while she was sleeping in her home at Northeast 103rd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

The woman woke up and tried to escape by driving away in her SUV. Police said Parks then shot the back of the woman s SUV as she drove away.

Gang detectives originally detained four men Thursday morning after responding to reports of the shooting. No other arrests were made.

Parks was arrested and charged with attempted murder, burglary and rape.

He was being held at the Multnomah County Jail and his arraignment was set for Friday.
