PORTLAND -- The woman accused of taking a baby from its car seat in March and leaving it in the front yard of a nearby home pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping Tuesday.
Kabriana Harper, 17, was sentenced to five years probation and 80 hours of community service. She will also be required to go through a mental health evaluation and finish high school or get her GED.
Harper was accused of taking a 4-month-old boy from his car seat outside of a Portland apartment at East Burnside Street and 148th Avenue around 2 a.m. on March 5.
The baby was eventually found alone at 7 a.m. in the front yard of a home about a mile away from where he vanished. The boy was very cold when he was rescued, but otherwise okay, police said.
Harper confessed to police on March 14. She was charged as an adult.
