A man is in custody in Hawaii after police arrested him in connection with the death of a woman from Portland.

Police arrested 38- year-old Nathaniel Cosby, a U.S. Marine, Wednesday morning at the Honolulu airport on suspicion of second degree murder.

Her family said Ivanice Ivy Harris was on vacation celebrating her 29th birthday with her boyfriend and a friend last month.

The last time they saw her was around 2 a.m. May 16th outside a Waikiki bar. Four days later, her body was found about an hour away from Waikiki in a rural area of Oahu.

Family friend Andre Miller said he s relieved after hearing news of the arrest just a couple of days after Ivanice Harris funeral in Portland.

He said investigators told the family Harris was strangled.

Police have not released a motive nor have they said what if any connection the man in custody has with the victim.

KGW showed a photo of the man in custody to Andre Miller, a friend of the victim.

Looks like a monster you know, and that s just me probably judging him, knowing the situation. But to me, you know, he s a monster, Miller said.
