HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The Portland Bomb Squad was called to rural Washington County after someone found a pipe bomb in a field.

Just before 3 p.m., a Cornelius man told deputies he found the bomb in a field near Southwest Clark Hill Road and Southwest Long Road. Deputies determined the device was a legitimate pipe bomb and called in the bomb squad, said Sgt. Vance Stimler with the Washington County Sheriff s Office.

The bomb technician then detonated the device. Deputies do not know who left the bomb in the field and anyone with information was asked to call the sheriff s office.
