WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- A Wilsonville man pleaded guilty Thursday to killing a 2-month-old puppy just after he bought it from a pet store in January.

Wilsonville police said 28-year-old Kevin Lee Slabaugh told them he'd been drinking and taking prescription medication before it happened on January 26.

He called them the next day to confess that he killed the puppy. He said he had bought it $300 from a pet store hours earlier.

Officers said he led them to the body and showed them the kitchen knife he used, but couldn't offer an explanation for his actions.

Court officials did not say when Slabaugh would be sentenced.
