PORTLAND -- High east winds were expected to continue Thursday in the Portland Metro area, bringing rain that will last until at least the weekend, KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard said.

Overall today we'll see rain at times until mid-afternoon when the rain will turn to showers and stay showery through tonight. Highs today will stay in the lower-50s, he said. Tomorrow we'll see another round of rain that could be even heavier than today. Look for showers on Saturday and then much heavier rain on Sunday.

The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning for the central coast range, in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday.

In the meantime we still have breezy weather on the east side of the metro area and the western end of the gorge, Allard said. The east wind will change directions Wednesday night.
