PORTLAND -- New Seasons Market co-founder Eileen Brady filed officially to run for mayor of Portland Thursday.
There is so much I love about our city, her announcement read. But I am deeply concerned that Portland is losing our edge, our momentum, and our talent. It doesn't have to be that way. We can make a fresh start and move forward again.
Mayor Sam Adams has said he will not seek a second term.
On her website, Brady said a mayor must start each day with a laser-like focus on creating good jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for everyone.
A reputation for creating a green city, Brady said, can only come if we manage our costs, establish priorities, and stick with them.
Her website said that in 1999 Brady, her husband, two other families and about 50 friends co-founded New Seasons Market. In 2011, New Seasons had 10 stores employing about 2,000.
