Jay Leno could be headed back to his position as host of the late-night Tonight Show , according to several published reports.

The New York Times reports that NBC executives met with both Leno and Conan O Brien Thursday about the fate of the network s late-night comedy lineup. According to the Times, network officials did not deny that one possibility was returning Leno to his previous role as host of the Tonight Show .

The entertainment web site TMZ reported the news earlier Thursday. According to TMZ, NBC was expected tomove Leno on February 1to capitalize on the schedule break created by the 2010 Winter Olympics in February, which air on NBC. TMZ says Leno would then stay in the late-night slot after the Olympics ended, leaving O'Brien's future in doubt.
