HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A man whose body was found in a ditch near Hillsboro Thursday has been identified as a work-release inmate from the Washington County Community Corrections Center.
Ruendy Gutierrez, 29, of Hillsboro had failed to return on April 7, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. He was sentenced to the corrections center on March 28 on methamphetamine charges. He was on leave during the day and supposed to return at night
His body was found in a ditch off of Highway 219 near Hillsboro Thursday morning.
A driver saw the body near Southwest Raynard Road and Midway Road just after 7:30 a.m. and called the sheriff's office, according to Sgt. Bob Ray.
The Washington County Medical Examiner was helping with the investigation and reported no obvious signs of violence
Investigators said it looked like the man had been in the ditch since early Thursday morning.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death as the investigation continues.
