NEWBERG, Ore. -- A Newberg hotel was recognized for being one of the most environmentally friendly in the nation, according to a survey conducted by the online travel planning website TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor polled more than 2,100 American travelers for the survey and they chose Allison Inn & Spa as the second most green hotel in the nation.

Allison Inn & Spa is an 85-room resort which was designed with sustainability in mind. The property even has a living roof, which provides insulation to reduce energy use.

Many of the travelers polled said they intentionally seek out green hotels in their effort to reduce their own impact on the environment.

Not only is seeking out an eco-friendly accommodation good for the environment, but our survey also shows that most travelers find travel experiences more enjoyable when they make greener choices, said Jenny Rushmore, director of responsible travel at TripAdvisor.
