SALEM -- A mom and her daughter were killed in a crash Tuesday evening on Turner Road in Salem, just south of Airway Drive Southeast, police said.

Around 6:15 p.m., 28-year-old Hannah Reitz of McMinnville crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 32-year-old Jason McMurphy, according to Lt. Dave Okada with Salem police.

There were two adults and three kids in Reitz's car.

Kelly Moore, 26, of McMinnville and her 9-year-old daughter Jasmine Moore died at the scene. Jasmine's twin sister, Reitz and her 8-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

McMurphy was also taken to the hospital. His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Turner Road was closed between Airway Drive and Kuebler Boulevard while the scene was being investigated, police said.

Investigators do not know the cause of the crash. Speed and intoxicants were not thought to be factors in the crash.
