WEST LINN, Ore. An improving real estate market means this year s Street of Dreams is lined with very expensive homes, and most of the homes are already sold.
The Northwest Natural Street of Dreams opens in about a month, and contractors are scrambling to finish the high-end projects. The nine homes are priced from $1 million to $2.1 million dollars.
The climb out of the recession and housing slump is good news for builders.
We re having a hard time finding people to do the work it s so busy. It s a good thing. Homes are selling. Prices are going up. There s a lot of movement out there on the market, said Terry Hutchinson of Pahlisch Homes.
The builder took on two of the homes being built this year, and both are presold.
John Darby has a $100,000 landscaping job in full swing at the home called Southern Exposure. It includes a spring fed creek, a putting green, and hand-crafted rock walls, along with dozens of trees, shrubs and other features. He and his crew have plenty of work to do, along with other contractors.
We re usually working a lot harder, a lot faster. Working with conditions of a lot of other contractors on the job site. And everybody works pretty good for the most part. It s almost traffic control sometimes because of what s going on, said Darby.
The Northwest Natural Street of Dreams runs July 27 through Aug. 25.
