PORTLAND -- Two people were arrested and 35 guns were seized from a home in Southeast Portland during a heroin investigation February 21, and police Wednesday said more guns, drugs and $100,000 in cash were recovered from two safes confiscated in the raid.

Police began the investigation in January, when they learned that 30-year-old Joshua Michael Buettner and 26-year-old Jehna Gowanlock might be dealing heroin, said Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

When officers contacted Buettner on February 21, he had a gun and an ounce of heroin on him, Simpson said. Police then went to his home, where they found ammunition and 34 more guns, as well as an ounce of heroin. Two safes were also seized.

Buettner and Gowanlock were jailed on multiple drug charges. Police serving search warrants on the two safes later found $100,000 in U.S. currency, more than an ounce of heroin and four handguns.

None of the handguns had been reported stolen, Simpson said.
