PORTLAND, OR KGW NewsChannel 8 President and General Manager DJ Wilson announced today the promotion of Frank Mungeam to Director of Digital Media. The promotion reflects the importance the company is placing on digital media and recognizes Mungeam s contributions over the last six years in leading the station s digital efforts.

Under Mungeam s leadership the station s website,, has consistently been recognized for outstanding digital journalism. The website received a regional Emmy Award for interactivity in election night coverage. It has earned the AP Award for Best TV Website in Oregon for five consecutive years and was named Best TV News Website by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters in 2012. Most recently was recognized with the AP Mark Twain Award for Best TV News Website in the 13 western states.

Frank richly deserves this promotion to the director of digital media and becoming a member of our executive leadership team at the KGW Media Group, said DJ Wilson in announcing the promotion. Frank has been instrumental in developing and managing our digital strategy and our ever expanding portfolio of digital products. With his unique background of deep experience in the legacy television business as a producer in addition to his extensive experience in digital media, Frank has been a true pioneer in integrating digital with our legacy business. It is with Frank s leadership and innovative vision that KGW has enjoyed being first to market on many digital initiatives and has been instrumental in contributing to Belo s digital strategy as well.

Mungeam previously worked as a television producer at KGW NewsChannel 8 s sister station, KING-TV, in Seattle and then as a television producer and executive producer in Portland before becoming the new media director at another television station in the market. Mungeam joined the KGW Media Group in 2006.

Mungeam earned a psychology degree from Harvard University and a master s degree in communication and leadership studies from Gonzaga University. He is an adjunct instructor in the Creative Media and Digital Culture program at Washington State University s Vancouver campus.

Mungeam is the author of two books, Dream It, Do It, and A Guy s Guide to Pregnancy.
