VANCOUVER -- A motor home caught fire outside a Vancouver home Wednesday night, and the flames burned the house next door.

Crews were called just before midnight to the report of a fire in the 7400 block of Northwest 16th Avenue, according to Capt. Scott Willis of the Vancouver Fire Department.

Arriving firefighters found a full-sized motor home fully engulfed in flames. Homeowners told investigators they heard an explosion and looked out to see the fire already raging, Willis said.

The fire was extinguished quickly, but the siding on the neighbors' house was damaged.

The neighbors were not home at the time of the fire, Willis said. Firefighters had to force entry into the neighbors' home to confirm that the fire did not spread into the walls or attic. The neighbors were contacted and very appreciative of the firefighters efforts to save their home.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was being investigated.
