PORTLAND - The Portland City Council on Wednesday passed a new funding plan to replace old-time connections that the WaterBureau says are not up to code.
A group of homeowners say the additional cost to fix the lines will cost several thousand dollars a piece.
Many say that is too much for their bank accounts to handle.
It's come to the point where many of us are going to lose our homes, homeowner Kay WIlliford said.
WIlliford says the plan forces homeowners to either pay a fee or take out a lien, so the city can pay for what they say is improperly installed sewer lines in the inner eastside.
