HOODRIVER, Ore. -- Stormy weather returned to the Columbia River Gorge Tuesday, just after residents had dug themselves out of the latest winter snow and ice.
In Cascade Locks, snow covered the ground throughout the morning.
Forecasters said the Hood River area of the Columbia Gorge could also see several more inches of snow and pockets of freezing rain.
Oregon Department of Transportation crews were out in force to plow and de-ice the packed snow and ice on Interstate 84. Traffic was down to one lane for several miles just west of Hood River.
In town, fresh snow blanketed the streets and prompted the early release of students in the county school district.
Last weekend, ice left thousands without power in the Gorge area.
