PORTLAND, Ore. -- The business publication Kiplinger has picked Portlandas one of the Comeback Cities for 2011.
The magazine cited Portland's growth in the software industryand in clean technology, from electric vehicles to wind power.
Kiplinger's predicted employment in Portland to grow more than 3 percent this year.
The 10 other comeback cities includeSeattle, Nashville, Orlando, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Flint,Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Jose
The Portland Development Commission has awarded approximately $4.4 million in loans and grants to businesses, with the aim of retaining or creating about 1,000 jobs, the report said.
