PORTLAND -- Two men with handguns robbed a Northeast Portland bar early Monday morning, police said.

Officers were called just before 1:30 a.m. to an armed robbery inside Mad Hanna's Tavern at 6129 NE Fremont St., said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

Witnesses told police at the scene that two men went into the bar, armed with handguns, and demanded money from employees.

After getting an unknown amount of money, the robbers walked out of the bar and headed eastbound on Fremont, Simpson said.

Both men were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered. One was described as about 6-foot-1, 200 pounds. The other was about 5-foot-8 with a thin build, Simpson said.

Police searched the neighborhood but did not find anyone matching the suspects' descriptions.

Anyone with information was asked to call robbery detectives at 503-823-0405.
