SEATTLE A Nike ad featuring Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is racking up YouTube views after the cornerback s post-game rant went viral Sunday.
The Nike shoe ad grabbed more than a million YouTube views in less than 24-hours. Sherman is all smiles as he talks about the durability, lightness, and comfort of the Nike Flyknit Lunar 2 running shoes.
Sherman also showed up in a new ad for a headphone company called Beats by Dre. That ad features Sherman answering reporters' questions and then putting on headphones when things become chaotic. The ad racked up more than 700,00 YouTube views in its first 24 hours.
Meantime, Sherman has apologized for his rant after the playoff game last weekend. Sherman became the focus of attention after Seattle beat San Francisco 23-17 on Sunday to win the NFC championship and he helped seal the Seahawks win.
Sherman deflected a pass intended for Michael Crabtree in the corner of the end zone with less than a minute left, sending the ball to Seattle teammate Malcolm Smith for the final score. Afterwards, Sherman ran over to Crabtree and gave him a pat on the backside, then appeared to extend his arm for a handshake. Instead, Sherman got shoved in the face before picking up his personal foul as his celebration continued.
Sideline reporter Erin Andrews interviewed Sherman on the field immediately after the game, and he started hollering. His rant compainted in part, about Crabtree.
The apology that followed later was an effort to put the focus back on the big win and away from his personal outburst.
I apologize for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates, Sherman told ESPN's Ed Werder. That was not my intent.
