STEVENSON, Wash. -- A Washington man who said he blew up his dog in August to prepare for the Rapture was sentenced Thursday to 12 months in jail.

Christopher Wayne Dillingham, 45, pleaded guilty to possession of an explosive device without a license and first-degree animal cruelty.

Investigators said in August that Dillingham attached a small bomb to the collar of his ex-girlfriend's dog and set it off with a blast that alarmed neighbors.

Dillingham later admitted that he killed the dog and said it was because his ex-girlfriend had put the devil in it, according to court documents.
