PORTLAND A grandfather and his grandson were hit while trying to cross the street in Southwest Portland Friday night, police said.

Just after 7:30 p.m., a 74-year-old man and his 8-year-old grandson were trying to cross the street at Southwest Macadam and Southwest Carolina Street when a car turning from a cross street hit them.

They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver cooperated with them. There is no marked crosswalk in the area.
