PORTLAND A motorcycle rider having mechanical issues pulled over on Interstate 5 near Woodburn only to see his bike go up in flames Sunday, firefighters said.

The rider reportedly pulled over around noon because he thought he was out of gas, said Lt. Darin Unrein with the Woodburn Fire District.

The rider walked to get gas, and as he refilled the bike on the shoulder of the Interstate, it caught fire and quickly went up in flames, Unrein said.

Fire crews arrived to put out the flames before they spread, but the bike was a total loss.

No one was injured in the fire.
