PORTLAND -- A 19-year-old woman woke up early Wednesday morning to a stranger sexually assaulting her in her friend's car, Portland police said.

The victim said she had gone to sleep in the car near Southwest 2nd Avenue and Southwest Oak Street, according to Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

She said when she awoke at about 3 a.m. she was being assaulted and the car had been moved to Southeast 3rd Avenue and Southeast Main Street.

The suspect fled the area and police are asking for help locating him. He was described as an African American male in his 30s, about 6 feet tall with an average build.

Simpson said police do not know how the car was moved from downtown Portland to the east side industrial area.
