PORTLAND Portland State University was named one of the top 10 up-and-coming national universities by U.S. News & World Report.
This is the second year PSU was named to the list by U.S. News as part of its 2014 Best Colleges ranking list, published Tuesday.
The list recognizes the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus, or facilities based on a survey of college administrators, according to Suzanne Pardington, a spokeswoman for PSU.
People are taking notice of Portland state because of our growing academic and research excellence, said Wim Wiewel, PSU president. We are working hard to create rigorous and relevant educational experiences that connect students to the real world.
PSU was also recognized in the Academic Programs to Look For list its service learning and Senior Capstone programs.
Other up-and-coming universities included the University of Southern California and Arizona State University.
