OREGON CITY, Ore. A club soccer coach was arrested in his Oregon City home Wednesday on five counts of sexually abusing a 12-year-old, deputies said.

Joseph Leonetti, 43, was arrested by detectives with the Clackamas County Sheriff s Office Child Abuse Team and was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail, said Deputy Mark Nikolai.

Leonetti has a lengthy history of coaching girls soccer, including coaching the West Linn High School Girls soccer team from 1997 to 2006, Nikolai said.

The victim was on a club team coached by Leonetti, Nikolai said.

Leonetti played soccer at the University of Portland where he was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2001. In 1996, he was drafted by the LA Galaxy 94th overall in the 1996 MLS Inaugural Player Draft.

Leonetti also appeared as a soccer analyst on KPTV during Portland Timbers games.

Leonetti's bail was set at $1.25 million. He will be arraigned Thursday in Clackamas County at 3 p.m.

The crimes reportedly happened in fall and winter of 2012. Detectives are not ruling out the possibility of other victims and are asking anyone with additional information to call the sheriff s office at 503-723-4949.
