PORTLAND -- A 40-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for sexually assaulting a woman at Portland State University.

Police arrested Nate Justin Wheeler, 40, at his home in Northwest Portland. He was charged with sexual abuse and taken to the Multnomah County Jail.

Wheeler was accused of physically assaulting a woman in an elevator at PSU Saturday. He followed her from a MAX stop into Neuberger Hall at the college, police said.

Campus security records reviewed by KGW showed the suspect attempted to tear off the woman's clothing inside the elevator. She fought back until the elevator opened, and the man ran off.
