TACOMA, Wash. -- Two men in a stolen car were prowling mailboxes early Wednesday in Kent and tried to speed away when officers arrived.

Police say they sideswiped two police cars in a short chase that ended as the pair tried to run away on foot.

The News Tribune reports officers arrested a 29-year-old man right away. A police dog tracked down a 25-year-old man hiding in nearby woods.

Officers found stolen mail in the stolen car.
