SALEM -- The election will end this week, but the real work hasn't even started.

Latest: Election results (Check AFTER 8 p.m.)

The presidential election will be decided in swing states like Ohio, Wisconsin and Iowa. But much is at stake in Oregon's state and local contests. The new Legislature is likely to confront another tight budget, rising public pension costs and tense decisions about the future of criminal sentences. The health care and education systems will require some attention. And all of that is on top of legislators' personal priorities and the promises they've made on the campaign trail.
