TROUTDALE, Ore. Debris piles are causing trouble along the Sandy River, including one deadly accident.

Last weekend, a woman tubing with a friend got caught in a current, sucked into a large snag and drowned.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's office responded to three recent incidents along the river below Oxbow Park and deputies said it s risky to recreate in the river right now.

Deputies have also been posting flyers that warn rafters and inner-tubers about the dangerous stretch of river. Their best advice: If you see an area that looks like trouble, avoid it.

Look for an area to pull out and walk around that patch and get back in and continue to enjoy the flow, said Lt. Steve Alexander Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office has also been working with the State Marine Board to remove hazards in that part of the river.
