BEAVERTON, Ore. -- The Portland Timbers have opened a new $6 million team training center that includes a turf field for public use.

The Adidas Timbers Training Center, which also features a natural grass field exclusively for the team and a 6,000 square-foot indoor facility, is part of a 10-year partnership with the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District. As part of the collaboration, the Timbers will hold youth soccer camps and coaches' clinics at the facility.

The Timbers practiced for the first time at the training center on Thursday. It is located about a 10 minutes' drive from Jeld-Wen Field, the team's downtown Portland stadium.
