PORTLAND -- The Portland Winterhawks won in Seattle Saturday to become the Western Conference and U.S. Division champions.

The Winterhawks won 5-4, while the Spokane Chiefs lost 6-4 in Kennewick, Wash., against the Tri-City Americans. The Winterhawks and Chiefs meet Sunday at the Rose Garden to close out the regular season.

The Winterhawks will then move on to the first round of the playoffs, where they face the Everett Silvertips.

That series starts with game one next Saturday at 7 p.m., at the Rose Garden. Game two is scheduled for Sunday at 5 p.m., also at the Rose Garden.
