PORTLAND -- Thousands of naked bike riders took to the streets in Portland Saturday for The World Naked Bike Ride's annual sweep through the city.
Organizers never publish the exact route but riders took off from Normandale Park along Northeast 57th Avenue around 8 p.m. .
Cyclists traditionally wear very little, or nothing at all, so people who don t want to see the extra skin are warned to steer clear of Northeast Portland that night.
Police officers recommended riders wear helmets.
It's my first time not wearing a shirt and riding a bike. It feels great! One rider said.
The event is part of an international clothing-optional series of bike rides in which participants plan, meet and ride together en masse to promote a body-positive world. Rides take place in more than 74 cities in 17 different countries.
