EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Eugene police say they're investigating the shooting of man who tried to rob an armored bank vehicle at an Albertsons store.

Investigators say one of the armored vehicle's guards shot the suspect multiple times after the man attempted to rob the armored truck with only a can of mace and a screwdriver.

The shooting happened at about 3:40 p.m. on Saturday.

After the shots were fired, the armored truck employee and his partner left the scene in a vehicle, travelled a short distance to a more secure area and called 9-1-1.

Police found the male suspect with gunshot wounds and he was transported to a local hospital. The armored truck employees were not injured in the incident.
