FOREST GROVE, Ore. A Pacific University Vice President accused of sex abuse earlier this year was found not guilty by a jury Tuesday after an 8-day trial.

Michael David Mallery, 48, had been facing seven counts of first-degree sex abuse. He did not make a comment as he left the courtroom with his family Tuesday.

The charges came after an 11-year-old family member told a teacher that Mallery had touched her inappropriately. Police said at the time that a Department of Human Services worker reported a similar allegation had been made against Mallery by another family member in 2010.

Mallery is the Forest Grove school's vice president for finance and administration. Prior to Pacific University, Mallery had been an administrator at Oregon Health & Science University.
