PORTLAND -- A man has been formerly charged in connection to the Tuesday stabbing of a security guard at Portland Adventist Hospital, police said.
Timothy Evanger, 40, was charged with assault and attempted assault and booked into Multnomah County Jail, police said.
The security guard who was stabbed was released from the hospital Wednesday.
The guard was responding to a disruptive behavior call in the ER exam room when he was stabbed in the hand, hospital officials said.
The guard was in fair condition and was being treated in a secure area.
Police said Evanger sustained self-inflicted, non life-threatening injuries in the scuffle.
Police did not know whether the weapon used in the attack was brought into the hospital or came from the exam room.
