PORTLAND -- A suspect walked into a hotel in Northwest Portland, tied up an employee and another man and robbed them Thursday morning, police said.

Just before 5 a.m., the suspect, described as an African American man wearing a white hockey mask and black clothing, walked into the Silver Cloud Inn at 2426 Northwest Vaughn Street carrying a small box he claimed was a bomb, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.

The man tied up the employee and an Oregonian delivery driver before taking cash from them and taking off. The victims got free and called 911, Simpson said.

Police and a K-9 searched the area but didn't find the suspect.
