PORTLAND -- High winds Monday afternoon led to fallen trees and traffic problems throughout the Portland Metro area, but no major power outages were reported.

Pacific Power said around 800 customers in NE Portland in the Delta Park area should be getting power back shortly, after a tree went down into a primary power line on N. Whitaker.

A tree fell onto the roof of a Canby carport in the 1400 block of South Elm Street at about 2:30 p.m., according to spokesman Tood Gary of the Canby Fire Department.

Less than hour later, another tree had fallen onto Interstate 405, at the Southwest 6th Avenue on-ramp. Traffic was slowed in the area while crews cleaned up the debris, most of which was on the shoulder of the roadway.

Just after 3:30 high winds also knocked over a tree at Northeast Sandy Boulevard and Northeast 17th Avenue, witnesses reported.

There were no reports of injuries and only minimal property damage in the Canby incident. Portland General Electric reported less than 200 customers without power, and estimated that electricity would be restored by 4:15.
