MEDFORD, Ore. -- A 53-year-old Oregon man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his wife and four young children in July 2011.
In a tearful and rambling statement on Monday, Jordan Adam Criado of Medford maintained that he killed his wife after she killed the children.
But in imposing the sentence, Judge Lorenzo Mejia (muh-Hia) said by all accounts Criado became angry and killed his entire family when his wife told him she was leaving him for another man.
Authorities say Criado set fire to the family's house. The bodies of his family were found inside. Criado was also inside. He was unconscious for nearly three weeks from smoke inhalation.
