GASTON, Ore. Two people were seriously injured in what police were calling an alcohol-involved crash on Highway 47 near Gaston Sunday morning.
At 11:30 a.m., 62-year-old Gary Clark of Gaston slammed on the brakes of his Nissan pickup after coming up to a stopped vehicle. He lost control, causing him to head into oncoming lanes straight at 42-year-old Shelia White-Clark in her Volkswagen Jetta, said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.
White-Clark tried to avoid the truck but crashed into the passenger side of the pickup.
Gary Clark was taken to OHSU with serious injuries. White-Clark was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Hastings said they do not appear to be related.
The accident remains under investigation. Hastings said charges were pending against Gary Clark.
