LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. -- A wanted fugitive was arrested during a traffic stop Sunday when a trooper's Facebook search confirmed the man had been lying about his identity, police said.

The man was pulled over for an equipment violation just before 6 p.m. on Interstate 5, near Lake Oswego, said Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.

The driver was not listed as the car's owner, and the photo on the driver's license he presented did not look like him, Hastings said. The man told the trooper the car belonged to his fiance.

When the trooper searched the fiance's name on Facebook, he saw that she was in a relationship with 42-year-old Kerry Prowse of Portland, who was wanted on felony warrants for parole violation and gun and drug charges.

The driver eventually admitted he was Prowse and was jailed on his outstanding warrants, as well as DUII and other charges.
