PORTLAND - The father of the man accused of trying to set-off a bomb during Portland's Christmas tree-lighting ceremony once called the FBI to warn agents about his son.

That revelation came out at an evidence hearing Wednesday for Mohamed Mohamud.

Mohamud s father told the FBI his son was thinking about flying to Yemen and committing jihad. That phone call led to a 15-month investigation and ultimately Mohamud's arrest in 2010.

He's charged with trying to detonate a weapon of mass destruction Mohamud's lawyers have argued that government agents entrapped him.
