GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. Skiers are likely to get a late Christmas present Friday with a big snow dump at Mt.Hood resorts.

The time that's usually the biggest week of the year has been a bust the past couple of days for Mt. Hood resorts - but there's hope for the NewYear.

New powder Friday was expected to be between 12 and 16 inches as snow levels plunge.

Forecasters urged driversto be prepared with tire chains heading overCascade passes.

On Wednesday, Mt. Hood Meadows had to shut down due to the slushy conditions.
