AURORA, Ore. -- A Canby woman was seriously injured when her car collided with a semi trailer near Aurora Friday morning, police said.

Just after 5:30 a.m. 53-year-old Pao Yee Cha was driving northbound on Highway 551, near Arndt Road, when her car crashed into the trailer of a semi truck that was backing out onto the roadway, according to Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Portland's Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, Hastings said. She was last reported in fair condition. She was using safety restraints at the time of the crash.

The truck driver was not injured.

The highway was closed for more than an hour while crews cleared the scene.
