PORTLAND Heavy rain and melting snow was causing flooding in some neighborhoods in the Portland Metro area, but so far, rivers were not near flood stages, officials said Tuesday.

Portland Bureau of Transportation spokeswoman Cheryl Kuck said the east side, in particular, was dealing with street flooding due to high water and some blocked drains.

KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard said while last month didn t actually break a record, it was the wettest February Portland has experienced in 11 years.

And the start of March was not offering any breaks in the rain yet. Allard said rain will continue off and on, at least through Saturday.
