EUGENE, Ore. -- A Springfield, Oregon, man shot a police officer in March has been sentenced to a decade in prison.

The Register-Guard reports 41-year-old Brian Walker pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted first-degree assault and multiple counts of menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.

The victim of the attempted assault was a Springfield police officer who shot Walker after he reached for a gun.

Police went to Walker's home on March 11 after a caller reported that Walker was armed, suicidal and had threatened people during a domestic dispute.
