BEAVERTON, Ore. Paramedics at a Beaverton fire station delivered two babies during this weekend s snowstorm whose moms couldn t make it to the hospital on ice-covered roads.

Paramedic Jessie Fitzpatrick helped deliver one of the babies in the back of an ambulance on Friday. He said it was an unforgettable experience.

We were just trying to get to the hospital but didn't quite make it in time, Fitzpatrick said, with a smile. So we did what we had to do and what an awesome experience - a baby boy came out and healthy and happy.

Fitzpatrick works out of Beaverton station No. 67, where Saturday night a second baby was delivered by another paramedic. In that case, a couple called from a grocery store parking lot saying they didn't have enough time to make it to the hospital. Paramedics delivered that baby -- a girl -- in the ambulance.

Both babies and their families are doing well.
